Giving From Your IRA
For many faithful donors, a retirement account represents a lifetime of wise saving. It also provides an easy and tax-effective way to make a meaningful gift to The Alliance. If you are age 70½ or older, you can transfer up to $108,000 directly from your IRA to The Alliance each year, entirely free of federal income tax — no deduction needed.
This giving option is ideal if you:
Are 70 1/2 or older and have a traditional IRA
Take required minimum distributions and would prefer to direct them to ministry rather than to taxes
Want to make a significant gift that isn't limited by standard charitable deduction rules
What makes this powerful:
The distribution counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the year.
You avoid paying income tax on the transferred amount — up to $108,000 annually. (This amount is out of date)
Because your gift is pre-tax, every dollar goes straight to Alliance ministry — none of it is diverted to taxes first.
You may also name The Alliance as a beneficiary to receive all or part of your IRA after your lifetime.
The gift must come from an IRA account, so funds from a 403b, TSA, or 401k must be rolled into an IRA first before making the gift.
Donors ask their account administrator to send a check directly to The Alliance.
Donors should ask their account administrator to put their name on the memo line.
Donors do not receive a charitable tax deduction; instead they are not paying income tax on the distribution.
Another option is to make a gift to The Alliance with an IRA beneficiary designation: simply name The Alliance as a beneficiary to receive all or part of your IRA assets after your lifetime

Give From Your IRA.
Make a Kingdom Impact.
If you're age 70½ or older, you may be able to make a tax-smart gift directly from your IRA to The Alliance through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
Give generously. Steward wisely.
For some donors, giving directly from an IRA can be a simple and tax-efficient way to support the ministries they care about most.
Advance gospel ministry
Put your retirement assets to work helping send workers, strengthen churches, develop leaders, and bring the hope of Jesus to more people.
Potentially reduce taxable income
When QCD requirements are met, the qualifying distribution generally isn't included in taxable income.
Help satisfy your RMD
A qualifying QCD may count toward all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution.
Three simple steps.
Your IRA provider handles the transfer. To qualify as a QCD, the gift generally must go directly from your eligible IRA to The Alliance.

Turn what you've faithfully saved into Kingdom impact.
Your IRA isn't just an account you've built over a lifetime. It can become a resource that helps advance the gospel, strengthen churches, develop leaders, and make disciples around the world.
What you've faithfully accumulated over a lifetime can become a resource God uses to change lives for eternity.
David wants to give $10,000.
David is 75 and has a $20,000 Required Minimum Distribution. He also plans to give $10,000 to Alliance ministry.
Instead of taking the full distribution personally and then making a charitable gift, David asks his IRA provider to send $10,000 directly to The Alliance as a QCD.
Questions about giving from your IRA?
What is a Qualified Charitable Distribution?
A QCD is generally a distribution made directly from an eligible IRA to an eligible charitable organization.
How old do I have to be?
You must be at least age 70½ when the distribution is made.
How much can I give?
For 2026, the annual QCD limit is $111,000 per eligible IRA owner.
Can my IRA gift satisfy my RMD?
A qualifying QCD may count toward all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution.
Do I also receive a charitable deduction?
You generally don't also claim a charitable deduction for an amount treated as a nontaxable QCD.
Does the money need to go directly to The Alliance?
Generally, yes. The distribution should normally be sent directly from the eligible IRA to the charity.
Can I give directly from a 401(k) or 403(b)?
QCDs generally must come from an eligible IRA rather than directly from a 401(k) or 403(b).
